Metal Gear Solid ‘Fox Hunt’ Multiplayer Launches Fall Without Crossplay

Konami has revealed that Fox Hunt, the upcoming online component for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, will release this autumn. However, a recent post on the official Japanese X account clarified that cross-platform play won’t be supported—a decision criticized by many players.

The absence of crossplay has sparked concerns about the mode’s longevity, particularly since it arrives post-launch. With audience interest potentially waning by its release, debates about Fox Hunt’s viability have emerged, though definitive judgments remain premature.

Inspired by the beloved Metal Gear Online, the mode emphasizes stealth mechanics central to the franchise. Its official synopsis highlights:

A fresh multiplayer variant blending evasion and survival tactics. Drawing from METAL GEAR ONLINE’s Sneaking rules, it reimagines hide-and-seek gameplay with cutting-edge visuals to heighten suspense.

This online experience mirrors the series’ iconic stealth gameplay while leveraging the base game’s survival elements. Enhanced graphics and mechanics aim to evolve the tense cat-and-mouse dynamic.

Despite the buzz around Fox Hunt, the spotlight remains on the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. Developed using Unreal Engine 5 in collaboration with Virtuos (known for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered), the title launches on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X in two weeks. While modernized controls are included, purists can opt for the classic scheme. The remake retains the original’s narrative and gameplay essence, leaving fans eager to see how it resonates in today’s landscape.
