Pokémon Go Fossil Research Day research tasks

The Fossil Research Day offers trainers a specialized three-hour event occurring within Pokémon Go’s Adventure Week festivities. Players can engage with this timed activity from 2 PM to 5 PM (local time) on August 2nd, 2025, featuring heightened wild appearances of prehistoric Pokémon species.

A series of exclusive Field Research missions will grant participants opportunities for bonus creature encounters, including rare fossil-inspired monsters. These tasks provide alternative methods for obtaining desired species during the limited engagement window.

Special Timed Research Objectives

This temporary investigation consists of three progressive challenges with escalating rewards. Completion requires swift action as access expires when the event concludes:

  • Finish 5 Field Research assignments → Amaura encounter
  • Complete 10 Field Research tasks → Tyrunt encounter
  • Finalize 15 Field Research objectives → Additional Amaura encounter

Ultimate Rewards: 2,500 XP, 1,000 Stardust, and Tyrunt encounter

  • Capture 5 creatures → Tyrunt/Amaura
  • Execute 3 Great Throws → Tyrunt/Amaura
  • Land 5 Curveballs → Tyrunt/Amaura
  • Make 3 Nice Curveballs → Tyrunt/Amaura
  • Use 3 Pinap Berries → Tyrunt/Amaura
  • Spin 2 PokéStops/Gyms → Tyrunt/Amaura
  • Earn 3 Buddy hearts → Tyrunt/Amaura
  • Power up Pokémon 3 times → Tyrunt/Amaura
  • Challenge a Gym → Tyrunt/Amaura
  • Send 3 Sticker-enhanced Gifts → Tyrunt/Amaura
