How To Unlock Subclassing in Elder Scrolls Online

The latest game update brings a wealth of fresh content to The Elder Scrolls Online, including expanded storylines, exploration zones, and transformative gameplay mechanics. Following its June 2025 PC debut alongside the “Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1” expansion, players can now access groundbreaking multi-class customization through the subclassing system.

This innovative feature enables characters to integrate three unique ability sets from alternative classes, dramatically expanding build experimentation. Over three thousand potential skill permutations now exist, redefining player agency in character development. While transformative, this capability requires fulfilling progression milestones before activation.

Bahtra at-Hunding

Activating subclass functionality necessitates achieving maximum character level (50), earning the “Paragon of Power” achievement, and finishing the “Trials of Mastery” questline. Fresh adventurers should anticipate dedicating multiple play sessions spanning days to weeks for initial qualification, with progression pacing dependent on gameplay intensity.

Upon attaining level 50, visit Bahtra at-Hunding in your alliance’s capital city through the free quest invitation in the Skills interface or Crown Store. The mentor provides interactive tutorials on alternate class mechanics – engage her dialogue options for comprehensive breakdowns of available disciplines.

Select “Adopt Discipline” when prompted to access the cross-class interface. Prerequisite: Possession of at least one foreign class ability. Exchange an existing skill tree for a new specialization, then confirm selections through Bahtra to finalize subclass integration.

Mechanics Overview

Incorporating alternate class skills requires either mastering the target specialization through traditional progression (Rank 50 expertise) or utilizing subclass conversion tools. Specialization tokens, Reconfiguration Scrolls purchased from Bahtra, or faction shrines facilitate these adjustments. Once adopted, disciplines must be developed through standard gameplay until mastered, with flexibility to swap configurations using respeccing items.
