Bethesda Launches Oblivion Remastered Update 1.1 Across All Platforms

Bethesda has rolled out the latest patch for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, labeled version 1.1, across all platforms after limited testing on Steam Beta starting June 5. This overhaul resolves numerous technical problems, including game crashes, visual glitches, and animation errors. Key improvements also target mission-blocking bugs that previously hindered players from advancing through certain storylines.

This marks the initial phase of two planned updates, with the second slated to arrive first via Steam Beta before reaching PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S systems. Bethesda hasn’t provided an exact timeline but confirmed the follow-up patch will launch “shortly after” the current release.

Despite its rocky launch plagued by performance challenges, the remaster has dominated sales charts, contributing to Xbox’s strong U.S. performance in April 2025. Analysts at Newzoo highlight the title as “a prime example of successful remaster execution,” though some players remain critical of persistent flaws. Independent modders have stepped in to tackle unresolved issues, releasing unofficial fixes with mixed outcomes.

For fans undeterred by technical hiccups, revisiting Cyrodiil has been nostalgic. Wccftech’s Francesco De Meo lauded the remaster in his review following its unexpected release, applauding Bethesda’s balance of modern enhancements and preservation of the original’s charm. He noted, “While performance hiccups and archaic mechanics may frustrate some, Oblivion Remastered revitalizes the RPG classic with thoughtful upgrades, offering the ultimate version of this beloved adventure.”
