Fallout 76: Gone Fission Free Now, Adds Fishing, Combat, and Perk Updates

Bethesda has launched Fallout 76’s latest seasonal overhaul, Gone Fission, bringing aquatic gameplay options and fresh content to Appalachia. This free expansion kicks off Season 21 with a focus on environmental immersion.

The standout addition enables angling mechanics across all navigable waterways. Adventurers can pursue 30 aquatic species, with catches usable for crafting novel dishes. Access requires completing the introductory Casting Off mission series, rewarding players with a functional Fishing Rod. Progress through angling trials and repeatable tasks unlocks enhanced fishing gear upgrades.

Ecological collectibles feature prominently, with 12 rare Axolotl variants to discover—one revealed monthly through 2025. The update also debuts aquatic-themed C.A.M.P. decor, weapon adjustments, and perk card modifications. Combat refinements include rebalanced damage calculations and loot distribution changes. Full technical specifications are available via the official patch documentation.

Currently accessible on Windows, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, Gone Fission enhances post-nuclear survival gameplay while maintaining cross-version parity. Seasonal leaderboards reset with the update’s deployment.
